What Remains

What Remains is a local audio project based in Evanston, IL that aims to reflect the thriving community during this time of tremendous upheaval. Inspired by the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead, which commemorates death as a cyclical part of life, What Remains will feature Evanston voices sharing stories about loss in 2020, and what the experience of loss has revealed about honoring, valuing and loving all that remains. Stories will comment on physical health, work, home, family, relationships and time. To participate, see story prompts below.

Prompts for What Remains

Please find a quiet place to record and respond to the following five questions:

  1. What is a personal loss you’ve experienced in the last six months?
  2. Describe your relationship to that which is now gone; what did it mean to you?
  3. How does this loss change how you look at each day?
  4. What would you say to this loss if it could hear you?
  5. How will you move forward in a way that acknowledges what is gone, and what remains?

Record your answers to these five questions in a voice memo on your smartphone (in a quiet place and no more than 5 minutes please!) and email by the end of 2020 to suzanne.clores@gmail.com

What Remains will be broadcast as part of The Extraordinary Project, a podcast about exceptional human experiences.
